Both nights at Rio Nido along with Monterey Pop and O'Keefe Center (8/4/67) round out the top ten of 1967.

Yep, not a lot to choose from in 1967--but I like those 5 a lot. Who knows when Mickey's first night was for sure?

No it is actually a month earlier (Deadbase), Phil also mentions gig in his book. I beleive he joined Billy for the second set, I have yet to see it on anyone's list nor do I recall it ever being in circulation.

First show was at the Straight Theater in SF, 9.29.67. According to Dead Lists no recording circulates. In "At the Edge" Mickey states he sat in for the second set after watching the first. They played Alligator>Caution for "2 hours" according to Mickey :-)

Yeah I remember reading about the Alligator>Caution in a Jerry biography. Just wish there was a circulation of that show ... two hours? Probably on fire nearly all the way through!

I got to meet Phil and have him autograph my copy of the book here in St Louis yesterday at a book signing! It was cool. Sorry, I don't have anything else to say on the topic, just had to brag!

There may be some confusion on the 9/3/67 thing, I was reading Phil's book last night and remembered that 9/3/67 was the first weekend Robert Hunter came up to meet with the band after they started doing Alligator, which was when he heard them jamming on Dark Star and penned the first verse.

Mickey first played in San Francisco, accd to Phil's acct, indeed at the Straight Theater.
